What do I need before taking this course?
You don’t need any prior experience with R-PAS coding to take this course. However, you will need access to the R-PAS manual and an R-PAS account to participate in the lessons and exercises. If you are not yet authorized to practice independently you will need to get a sub-account under a supervisor or instructor. If you have questions, contact info@r-pas.org.
How long will it take to complete the course?
The course is designed to be completed in 15 modules (days), with an estimate of 3-4 hours per module and a total of 45-60 hours of study. However, since the course is self-paced, you can take as much time as you need to complete each section. We recommend you organize your schedule to finish it within a month, at least, not to lose momentum.
What kind of support is available if I have questions during the course?
We offer a discussion forum where you can ask questions, share experiences, and get help from fellow R-PAS users, research associates, and authors. Additionally, you can also contact us at info@r-pas.org with questions.
Why do I need the R-PAS manual?
The R-PAS manual is an essential part of this course. Our structured approach will guide you through relevant chapters of the manual. You will read Basic Coding (Chapter 3), Advanced Coding (Chapter 4), some of Interpretation (Chapter 10), and practice with 100 Rorschach responses (Chapter 7). The manual will become your go-to resource when you have questions or make mistakes.
Why do I need an R-PAS acccount at www.r-pas.org?
Having an R-PAS account is crucial for this course. When starting the course, you’ll receive 2 protocol allocations on the R-PAS website. You will use the first allocation to code all 100 examples from Chapter 7 of the manual, and the second allocation to code the final practice protocol. Additionally, the R-PAS website provides access to the R-PAS Forum, where you will interact with other R-PAS users, research associates, and authors, enhancing your mastering experience through community engagement and expert insights.
Do I get a coding proficiency certificate by taking this course?
No, but you become eligible to earn one. After completing this course, you can take the coding proficiency exam on the R-PAS website at no extra cost. The exam consists of coding 30 responses. Upon passing, you will receive a coding proficiency certificate, which is valuable in fields such as forensic psychology, research, and clinical practice to showcase your skills.
By taking this course, you will receive a certificate of completion. While this certificate does not indicate proficiency, it certifies that you have completed the full course, demonstrating your dedication to learning and practice, which can also enhance your resume.
